Like most of you, we have been experiencing winter storms here in Illinois. My kids missed 3 days of school this week. And, although I am a self-proclaimed lover of snow and cold, I may have threatened to run off to a tropical island once or twice this last week.
Here are a few other things I have been doing:
1. Baking (I'll share recipes this week!)
2. Breaking up fights between the kids. (the usual)
3. Laundry
4. Spinning my wheels in slush.
5. Swearing.
6. Climbing out of my warm van to trek up a long, steep, snowy incline cuz my Windstar just won't do it.
7. Expertly building fires.
8. Begging the boys to haul more wood for my fires.
9. Laundry.
10. More baking.
11. Swearing because I am getting cabin fever.
12. Swearing because I finally got out of the house but now I can't get back home.
13. Worshiping my husband when he clears the driveway (yet again) so I am free to be mobile.
14. Reading Gone With the Wind (do not look for this one to change in the next few months!)
For those of you who do not remember my driveway, here's a little visual for you from last year.
Does it all make more sense now?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Giant City School here in Carbondale had no school ALL week due to a water pipe bursting and flooding a wing of the school. Plus, it was cold, so the kids were cooped up in the house. So, there was a lot of swearing here too, but no baking 'cause I'm still dieting and can't be trusted around sweets.
Dammit
See...there I go again. But, tomorrow is MONDAY and I am 95% sure they're going back to school. Even through Avery only goes to Pre K from 8 - 10:45, I will ENJOY those 2 hours and 45 blessed minutes of peace and quiet and get some work done...and probably not swear as much!
The baking, building fires, and reading part don't sound that bad. The rest? Good luck with that!
Sounds like an adventure. :) It sure makes me grateful for Utah!!
