With, that in mind, I set out to find a salty, sweet cookie that would please my palate.
Here's what I came up with.
Salted Oatmeal Cookies
1 stick of unsalted butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 C granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
a pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 C flour
1 1/2 C quick oats
a pinch of cinnamon
------
Kosher Salt
White Chocolate or Almond Bark for melting
Cream butter with sugars. Add egg. Mix well. Add rest of ingredients, one by one. Scoop dough onto baking sheet and flatten it just a tad with your fingers. (just enough so the salt won't roll downhill.) Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of Kosher salt. Bake at 350 until they are just beginning to brown lightly on the edges.
I am terrible about this. I never time my cookies. Don't most cookies take about 8-12 minutes to bake? Start there. :)
Let the cookies cool on a rack. Frost lightly with melted white chocolate or almond bark. Let them dry. (yeah, right!) Enjoy!

I don't know...I just don't think I could purposely put salt on top of my cookies...
