Names I Won't Be Needing

I love to name things!

dogs, cats, fish, babies...

I've never been one to name cars or other inanimate things that I recall, but I am fascinated by the concept.
Many people name their cars. I think that's cool. and creative, which is always cool.

Because I love names so much, I kept a looooooooooong list of names I loved for babies. I knew full-well that I would never be able to use them all, but on and on I went.

I even went so far as to make a list of "ain't no way in hey-hey" names.
You know, exes and bullies from the past, that sort of thing.
In light of my recent pledge to make an effort towards being a positive force in the world, I will not share those names. ;)

But I thought it might be helpful for me to "let go" of a few of the names I won't be using. Like releasing a balloon into the sky and watching it float up, up, up, I am letting go. I was holding on too tightly, to the names and my secret Duggar wish. (That's a story for another time. I'm so over it.)

Anywho- here are some names I will let go of. Grab one. Use it. I'd be so pleased.

Girl Names I love but won't be using:

Olive and Ruby top the list. I LOVE them both!!
Violet and Rose are next. So feminine.

I knew a little girl with the name Rosalee. Just the name melted me like butter. So old fashioned. So precious!

I also love names with a little more funk to them, like:

Zoe, Izzy, Lola and Jules

As a younger woman I always thought I'd use Ashleigh, but when it came down to it, I wanted my girl to be named after someone, so I ditched Ashleigh. Go ahead, take it.

Boy Names I love but won't be using:

Any of the "er" names would come in first for me. I love them all!
Parker, Sawyer, Spencer, Tucker...

Then Irish names, like:
Keegan, Kiernan and Connor

Biblical names are favorites for me:
David, Joseph, Benjamin

When I was in college I had 2 goldfish named Roxy and Myra.
I used to live next to a mother-daughter set of Golden Retrievers named Molly and Maggie.

My son names all his animals after weapons and explosions: Blastoff, Knife...

If you had someone or something to name, what name would you use?

Do you have any names you want to let go of?

And if you are a person who names their car, please tell me! I want to know what it's name is!

There will be a giveaway here next week! Stay tuned!

My top 2 girl names were Lily and Chloe. The hubs nixed both. I still love them. It almost makes me want to have another baby in hopes that I get a girl and I can convince him to use one of those names.

We've had a couple of names for cars over the years like: The Bang Stang, Rock Lobster, and the Purple Onion.

Now that you've reminded me, none of our current cars have names...must get busy.

So, you wanted more kids, huh? *lol*

I'd love to have had a few more, too - but I'm not so sure I could afford them. The Duggar's have income from a TV show and still shop at Thrift Stores and I like NEW things, so I'm pretty happy with the kids I have. Plus, there are always GRANDKIDS. Which are like kids - only without the parental responsibilities, and double the fun!

I always loved the name Henry and my favorite girl name of all is Greenlee. It's from All My Children, but I love it! My firstborn was almost Henry until we found his given name...
Anyway, I had several cars with names- The Bratta (for my beretta), Red- for another red car I had. My current car sometimes has a name, but mostly I call her girl.

I love names and I really love your "er" names. I could have used any of them. Our youngest and probably last is 15 months old and we were convinced she was a boy (we never find out in advance) and I loved our boy name, Cooper.

On a side note, our two oldest just named their first two 4-H gilts, Blackie and Lucy. What can I say, we love names. :-)

I love them! I'm hankering for baby #4 but uh, that's a ways off... I'm big into my name "scheme"... Jackson, Jordan, Addison with middle names of Brian, Riley, Ryan... they just roll nicely. That being said, uh, I've got angst over how a 4th would fit in... A boy could be Aidan and a girl could maybe be...? I dunno. I need to let go of it. I need to not stress about it. And why do I like London as a girl's name? Is that crazy? Why are baby names fun? I need lots of grand babies.

Well, some of your baby names are on my list too... hopefully, I will meet a nice person to get started on that particular list! As for cars, I started naming my parents' cars very young. My dad had a red Omni that was as red as my car now and I called it the "Apple." I was 5, my sister was 2 and she could say "Apple," so the name stuck! My first car was "Tank," cause it could withstand anything!

Having had 8 kids I'm glad to say I used up most of the names I love. Although I still love names that start with L like your Lola and Leslie.

When I was small there was a huge grandfather cockroach that used to cross the living room at the same hour every night. We called him Charlie.

Lovely post, Jami!
