A Garden Fairy Tea Party

I wanted to share a couple of shots of the tea party I co-hosted
for our Daisy Troop at the end of the year.
I have shown you some of the elements, but not the party itself, so here's a chance to get some ideas for your own garden tea party.

First of all, we invited all the girls to dress up in fancy dresses or costumes.
Then we packed extra wings, knowing not everyone would have/ remember them.

We ordered 2 small white tents

and purchased pink and purple tulle to decorate the tent poles
and silk daisies to use for tie backs.

We purchased pink and purple daisy-shaped pinwheels at the Dollar store. These served as decorations as well as favors for the girls to take home after the party.

I bought sheets of pink and purple crepe paper and made as many paper flowers as I could make to hang from the edges of the tents.

Then I took my newly painted watering can to use as a centerpiece.

 It was super easy!
I found a big branch in my yard that had plenty of tiny branches shooting off of it. I poured gravel in the bottom of the can for weight and then stuck the branch down inside to stabilize it. Then I made teeny tiny crepe paper flowers in hot pink and used my favorite glue and the string I used to make them to attach them to the crooks of the branches. I just snapped off anything that was too long and then put this in the middle of the table!

Of course, each girl got to wear and keep the daisy hair clips
Each one was used to decorate the rolled cutlery before they sat down.

(remember these from the silverware rolling tutorial?)

When the time came for the party, there was a little problem: no tents and not enough seating. Oh my!
After a wee bit of stress, we counted on the fact that the girls would not notice the card table and chairs we dug out of my mother's garage. A mad dash to Wal-Mart produced a quick table cover and the tulle and paper flowers were hung in the trees. We borrowed a potted flower (disguised with a ribbon tutu over the pot) and stuck some of our coordinating flowers in so it matched.

Each girl also took home a small potted petunia, in pink pots, of course!
(I found those in the Dollar Spot at Target)

I didn't get a lot of shots of the food, but we used fancy "crystal" (plastic) from the Party Store. See the Chex mix we put in little footed cups? I thought they added a "fancy" touch. The girls loved them!

We also served Ham Sandwiches on Silver Dollar Buns, an assortment of fruits with pink fruit dip, pink lemonade and the beautiful daisy cupcakes cake made by one of the moms.

The girls blew bubbles and ran through the yard just like little garden fairies should!

(I covered their faces since I did not have permission to post them here.)
