Speaking of Dancing...

This was originally posted on our Marriage blog, which is now hibernating. I love it, so I am reposting it here. Have a great weekend. xo

This has poem has been one of my/our favorites for a long time. The funny thing is I never realized it is actually a song. And sort of a goofy/ weird song at that! Well, Leonard Cohen is...shall we say, "odd"? Anyhoo-- by the magic of the internet, I got to hear the song and watch the video this week! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT. Seriously, it removes all would-be romance from this well-written "poem".

Well, after much ado...here is the text of Dance Me To the End Of Love...along with some of the pictures I think it should conjure in your mind...not the weird ones on the internet! lol

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of loveDance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove

Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
This weekend, find some time to dance with your spouse and feel the love!

This is so beautiful. I love the poem, and I'm trusting your judgement on not listening to the weirdo Cohen song. That man is creatively weird. But very talented....

Beautiful poem Jami, but now I just have to listen to the song. You shouldn't have told me not to!

Hope you are having a lovely Sunday!
