Why They Call Me Crazy

So I figured it was time for me to explain the title.

I live in the Midwest. In a small-ish, middle-of-nowhere sort of town that moonlights as a college town. Once upon a time, I lived in the glorious suburbs of Chicago. Picture Norman Rockwell: that is the town we lived in. When Superman and I lived there, we came to know many families whose lifestyles differed from what we had known growing up. Many of them had big families. On purpose! *grins* Some of them adopted their kids....or even adopted kids when they already had kids! Some of them birthed their babies without epidurals! *gasp!* Many of them home-schooled. Lots of them had weird rituals like carrying their babies instead of parking them! Some of them...wait for it...ATE HEALTHY FOOD! I know. Shocker!

These people indoctrinated us. They brainwashed us.
We began to think that is was totally normal to behave this way.

So, a few years later, when we decided to move back to the Midwest, we had a little culture shock. More than one person clutched their chest and audibly gasped when they found out we were having baby number four. Many people boldly asked if we did this on purpose. Others just shook their heads at us like we were nuts. A few lowered their voices and ask if we didn't know what was causing this "problem". Nice, huh.

I told very few people that I had, in fact, birthed my own 10 lb baby in a tub in my bedroom with not so much as a tylenol. I did not utter the word "Bradley Birth", let alone "vaccination". I went to the cry room when I had to nurse the baby in church. I USED A BLANKET! I started wearing my wedding ring again because goodness knows, I couldn't handle MORE judgment from total strangers!

As time went on, we got more used to the way things are here. After all, I grew up here and he, not too far from here. But I will never forget. What a crazy notion: to want children. And God forbid you have a bad day. God forbid. You brought this on yourself, you know.

So that is where my title came from originally. The longer I blog though, the more it fits me here too. I am slightly jealous of tHe fiCkLe piCkLe because her name would be so fitting as well. For me.
(This woman has MAD crafting skills, by the way. Woweee! Check her out!)

Which brings me to what you see above. *ahem*  My title. How long have the boots been up there?
Not even a month!
I SWORE I would LEAVE IT ALONE for ONE YEAR. I SWORE! Well, you can see what my word is worth! LOL (and yes, I am laughing OUT LOUD, not quietly!..I'm just THAT kind of CRAZY!)

I just couldn't do it! I love-love my title photo. But I felt the need to decorate a bit for Valentine's Day. And I missed my crazy daisy, of the CRAZYMOM daisy-hat fame.

(Do you like it in {shocking} pink? I love it! )

I don't remember now how this picture became my signature, but it does seem to fit. I have loads more too. You will see them...someday...

Anyhoo...I am keeping the boots. And thank you, thank you to all of you who have commented on them because you know, I have not been taking good pictures all that long and I need all the encouragement I can get.

(and yes, I will be getting a real signature soon...as soon as I can decide what I want!)

P.S. And might I suggest you NOT learn to do your own design if you are fickle like me. It is not unusual for me to wake up in the night with a new design idea. For real.... Not kidding.... Seriously.

P.P.S. Sometimes I embellish a little. So what?

P.P.P.S. *edited to add* Just to clarify: after living in the MW a while, we have met lots of people who "tolerate" our CRAZINESS and a few with their own special brand of CRAZY, which is awesome! ;)

I love the fickle pickle name- that would have been fitting! I hope the "own kind of crazy" is referring to me!
PS- I am glad the daisy is back!

being crazy is awesome! I've been called that lots of times, but I never ever had to change for anyone, and I can always be myself everywhere (well, almost everywhere--some places don't let you walk around naked)

You asked me about romantic getaways in Texas...it depends what you're looking for. Do you want the beach, the Hill Country or kind of the wild running horses across scrub and desert trip?

LOL, I live in the South where people think I'm crazy for NOT wanting a ton of kids... so maybe we should switch places?

I was just getting ready to tell you how much I LOVE your blog header. You obviously have great decorating skills :)

Fantastic blog!! LOOOVE it! I have 5 kids with one on the way and I know the "gasp" "gut clutch" and overused cliche-ish jokes (you know how that happens, don't you?) all sooo very very well! And you are so right on, as well, about the bad day thing ... but I'll digress now. I just wanted to say THANK YOU! You made my day!
