So, we had some drama here last week. Father's Day. Princess's Birthday. In the midst of it all, we began to notice that the kitty was missing. We started counting back to the last time we saw her...or had to refill her dish. oh no! She is an outside cat who prefers to nap at the end of my bed. go figure. But that means that on occasion she does take little jaunts into the woods, bring us a headless sacrifice or hang out in the trees. But always, ALWAYS, she comes back at suppertime. Except for last week. Thursday Superman went to the animal shelter looking: no kitty. Friday I finally let a few tears flow and braced myself for telling the kids while Superman assured me she was "a tough kitty" and probably off somewhere. It was the heat that worried me. She is a bit of a baby and it has been 100 degrees!
So Friday night we had 2 ball games, after which we all came home looking forward to a swim. My mom called me about 1 minute after pulling out of the driveway. She spotted a black cat near the creek. of course, I threw on as many clothes as legally required and ran down. Superman arrived. Mom left. We heard meow-ing. a good sign! We got a glimpse here and there under the brush..yes! it's her! hooray!
Someone had to supervise the human children and we knew the TV would not hold them for long, so I ran back in the house while Superman braved the thorn bushes (and cat claws) and retrieved my kitty. He is my hero! That night, she slept all night and the next day and ate like every 2 hours, leading me to believe she had been on a long, foodless journey. I suspect someone picked her up and took her somewhere and she had a long trip home. But then again she is not one to be captured willingly, even by us, so that seems a bit far-fetched.Whatever happened, she is home now and seemingly better. She is back to lounging at the foot of our bed, which gives me a joy I cannot explain. I never thought myself an "animal person". Yet, here I am: loving this wild thing that will probably break my heart again.

It's Wedding Season!!
I LOVE WEDDINGS!! But I am at the age where most of my friends are too old, but their kids are too young. So sadly, I have not been to one in ages. But I am all about the nuptials over at Scott-and-Jami.blogspot.com (hint, hint!)
I am really trying to focus on some fun things since the kids are all in VBS this week. I was really looking forward to the break, but I have found myslef running from here to there and everywhere, which is fast becoming STRESSFUL! So we are all looking forward to becoming couch potatoes again next week. I, for one am planning on not getting properly dressed at all next Monday (ahh.. the lazy days of summer: straight from the jammies and into the bathing suit. Love it!)
Wow, so yeah um, back to wedding-ish things...I found this new show (new to me) called Who's Wedding is it Anyway? It is so fun. I love seeing all the little details the designers put in to the weddings. And of course a little adult drama (that does not include crying kids) is always fun! lol I love when the brides flip out! I was a little flipped out at my own wedding but not because I am bride-zilla or anything. I just had a lot of drama going on in the fam + a very little amt of maturity on my part. (=I coulda been a little nicer) So, the wedding planner probably still says I was a complete nightmare. Live and learn.
I was showing the kids some photos of my wedding last week as I desperately tried to get my scanner to work. (it never did) All that reminded me of this particular video clip which I LOVE. I am totally going to google for more sappy love stuff!
I read somewhere that this is NOT considered a romantic proposal! Huh? I guess I am a nutjob, but I think it is awesome! Then again, I think I am fast becoming a sucker for any Jane Austen romance. So leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Do you ever feel like you were born at the wrong time?
(OK, this is pretty weird, but, refer to the title of the blog, please. lol)
My mom used to say that she should have been born during the days of the pioneers. She romanticized the lifestyle of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Grizzly Adams and others 70's characters. I, on the other hand, cannot imagine life without flushing toilets and running water. OK. I can imagine it but I am quite certain I would not LIKE it. :) I am more of a girly girl. I do like being independant to a certain extent and I have been known to have some control issues, but truth be told, I prefer to have my man fill up my gas tank, kill the spiders and chop the wood. Accordingly, I married a manly man. I needed someone who was not afraid to sweat. I needed him to be the man. And he is.
At the same time, I really like all things old-fashioned. I am a fool for vintage style aprons. I love baking pies, sewing, etc. Although I am not that great of a housekeeper, I can appreciate a clean house (I would willingly sit on the sidelines and cheer for my maid!) I like the idea of a clothesline in the back yard and kids running all over (of course in that fantasy, they are clean and quiet and neatly dressed, but still running. lol) Until I had kids, I always preferred skirts and dresses to pants or shorts. I prefer heels to flats, if I can pull it off.
All these things make me wonder...should I have been born in like the 30's? I would have been a great 50's housewife, except for the lack of AC. Also, I am not sure what I would have thought about me being the milder sex or the uneducated one. I would have had to have been a ground-breaker, I guess.
So what about you? Is there a time period in which you would have been better suited? Or maybe you just want to visit? Maybe I will try the apron, heels and pearls outfit and see what I think. Is it me?
LOL

Generations

Here's a digi page I did the other night. This kit is from Designs by Laura. It is called For Molly. I also added some bling to it with stardust made by lauraskathi.

My Summer Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to love the boys I cannot change (into quiet civilized beings),
Courage to mold them where I can,
And enough Prozac to survive raising them.
Amen.
is that wrong?

So far, I am noticing it is harder to find time to blog...or anything else with all 4 kids home. Mostly it is because there is SO much going on that it is almost impossible for me to form a sentence. So please forgive the babbling. :)
Right now I am pooped from all the running. I told the kids I needed a minute... but,3 phone calls and about 10 "shut that door!"'s since I typed that sentence...I still have not found my minute.
:)
If you are wondering what we are up to, you can check out the kids' summer blog project at Our Wild Kingdom. It is private because it is the way the kids are keeping in touch with friends and family this summer, but if you shoot me an email I might approve you ;)
I did manage to get a few minutes of quiet while hoeing the garden this morning. Funny how they all disappear when there is work to be done! Maybe that laundry pile isn't so bad afterall. In fact, I think I hear it calling me now! lol
