Mother's Day Wishlist

What's on my wishlist for Mother's Day?

Well, the best Mother's Day gift I ever got was a day of planting. Each kid and my wonderful husband bought me one plant and then they spent the day planting them for me while I sat on the rocker and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I am sure Scott grilled something yummy for dinner too. The best part was that afterwards I had a plant to remind me of each child. Forsythia, Hydrangea, white roses from my daughter. I LOVE flowers!!! I dream of having a cutting garden someday when I am not too busy with little ones to tend it. For now, we do what we can together.

My wishlist this year includes peonies. I am a SUPER BIG fan of peonies! The old fashioned double peony is my favorite. This one is called "Annisquam" from Klehm Nursery in South Barrington, IL. (All of these are from Klehm's Song Sparrow site.)
This pink one with a yellow center is called "Doreen". It is very striking because it is not what people traditionally think of as a peony. It has a daisy-like charm with all the fullness and sweet scent of a peony.

Here is one of my old faves from years ago walking through the grounds at Klehm and dreaming of a house with the picket fence and rows of blooming peony bushes. It is called "Bowl of Cream". Beautiful!

So what's on your wishlist?

My List

Years ago, when we had our first child, I started making lists of all the little things I might want them to know about me in case I died or something. It's morbid, I know. But there is also a selfish pleasure to sitting down and making these lists or in filling out one of those email interviews (c'mon girls, you know you do them!). It gives us a chance to be the celebrity for once. In the spotlight. :)

So I am going to make some lists. I am starting with a really big question: my favorite candy. This one is important because I am a chocoholic. :)
I always answer this one the same way. IF I have to pick JUST ONE hands down favorite, it has to be M&Ms.

I can eat a lot of M&Ms! Did your mother ever tell you you ate so much of something that you will turn into it? Well, here is what I would look like if I turned into an M&M.

If you think that was fun, go here and make your own: http://www.m-ms.com/us/becomeanmm/create/

So there is question number one and I think I hear my alarm (baby) going off, so I am running now! TTFN

Pocket Treasures

These are the things that I found in my 8 year old son's pocket today when I did the laundry. Thought I would share them.

First, we have an old Indain chief toy that looks like it was excavated from some burial site. Then, a rock. Lastly, the partial jawbone of some animal. I am guessing this was a fox. Two of the teeth have come out, since there is no tissue left in there. Since we live in the woods, it is no surprise to find remnants of animals, but it is never boring either. My kids have been dragging home antlers, skulls and pelts for years. I guess with three boys, there will be much more of this to come!

What's the craziest thing you ever found in your boy's pockets?
